Professor of Human Geography, Loughborough University, UK

My research explores the geographies of children and young people. I have won awards from the Royal Geographical Society and American Association of Geographers for contributions to cultural, political and historical geography.

I serve on the DCMS College of Experts (UK Government) and am a Fellow of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Political Literacy. My research has featured as evidence in a House of Lords Select Committee.

I have worked at Loughborough University as a Lecturer (2012), Senior Lecturer (2015), Reader (2018) and was promoted to a Personal Chair in February 2023. I lead a Vice Chancellor’s Research Cluster on ‘Digital Communities and Inclusion’ (currently advertising 6 fully-funded PhD projects).

I am currently the Research and Innovation Director for Geography and Environment at Loughborough University. I am a fellow of the HEA and contribute to several teaching programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have served the University in a number of roles, including leading Open Days for Geography and chairing a University Ethics Sub-Committee.

I was previously an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow (University of Leicester) following an ESRC-funded PhD (Aberystwyth University).
